- Ichabod Crane is his great-grandfather making him ⅛ Fable. Jonathan discovered his journals in the attic of his house.
- In 1995 he underwent a sudden mental break during which he attempted to kill his mother before being hospitalized by his father. He was visited by his sister, and in a moment of lucidity he warned her not to look into things in the attic.[2]
- When he's in Arkham he's housed in the Intensive Care Area.
- In addition to creating the "Fear Toxin" he also made a drug called "Content" (or "Bliss") used in Spyral brainwashing.[3]

- Scarecrow's Patient number (#61505) is a nod to his appearance in Batman Begins on June 15th 2005.
- Scarecrow's needle-glove is a nod to Nightmare on Elm Street and Batman: Arkham games.
- His locked-up portrait is based on his appearance in Year One: Batman/Scarecrow comic.
- The "Content" drug might be a nod to Gothtopia.
