- Rita Farr: [scoff] Hardly a problem. You paid for me to fly first class and I suspect you also arranged for me to be released from that prison they were keeping me in...
- Niles Caulder: [chuckle] Please do not hold anything against Dr. Wells. He is a former student of mine and was just doing what his country asked him to do... [sigh] Have a seat. No doubt, you've realized that you've awoken to some most troubling times.
- Rita Farr: Yes... I saw the video of the Towers. I am certain it was horrific to witness it live.
- Niles Caulder: Huh? Oh, right... Yes, yes, that terrorist business is dreadful, but not what I am speaking of. No, I refer to 'Meta-Menace' scare.
- Rita Farr: Meta?
- Niles Caulder: Metahumans is the term I coined to classify those with the meta-gene, discovered by my aforementioned pupil.
- Rita Farr: Is that what is wrong with me?
- Niles Caulder: [chuckle] Hogwash, Miss Farr. There is nothing with you at all. In fact, I think you're quite exceptional.
- Rita Farr: [shy giggle] Oh, please... You don't need to say you're a fan. I think I'd actually think less of you if you said-
- Niles Caulder: [chuckle] Miss Farr, I could give two [expletive] about your acting. I am interested in your meta-gene and you talents.
- Rita Farr: You mean the oozing and stretching stuff? [groan] It's gross...I thought you could fix it.
- Niles Caulder: There is nothing to fix. I want to train you to harness your gifts.
- Rita Farr: You... You just want to study me?
- Niles Caulder: I want to help you use your abilities to achieve great things.
- Rita Farr: [scoff] There is nothing great about what I've become. [sigh] I'm a freak! see for yourself. [flesh shifting]
- Niles Caulder: [beep] Cliff, would you come in here for a spell? [beep] Rita, I'd like you to meet a friend and another so-called'freak'...
