- Patient's health is difficult to assess due to having two distinct anatomies - a mutated human host and an alien parasitic fungal growth colony which has replaced his skin, nervous system, and several organs.

- Parasite's Patient number (#58487-M) is a nod to his first comic book appearance: Firestorm, Vol. 2 #58 in April, 1987.
- Prader-Wili syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder due to loss of function of specific genes. Beginning in childhood the person becomes constantly hungry which often leads to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
- Design of his mouth might be a nod to his New 52 appearance.
